Industrial engineer and project manager at SiGLA
As many of you already know, on June 10, our colleague and friend José Gómez Polo, project director at SiGLA, left us.
José was in charge of finishing the work and fitting out the Francisco Norte car park in Marbella when an illness advised him to dedicate all his efforts to fighting it. However, this time it couldn’t be.
José passed away surrounded by the love and admiration of all of us who knew him and had the pleasure of sharing so many projects with him.
An engineer by vocation and training, José Gómez worked with extraordinary reflection and rigor, which did not prevent him from showing great kindness and sympathy in his treatment and that good humor that always accompanied him.
The first contact with SiGLA teams occurred in 1996, in the Albacenter Shopping Center project in which he worked as an ECOP technician.
After this Center, in 2000 and already integrated into the development management of the Eroski group in Levante and Andalusia, José is in charge of the implementation of a gas station as part of the C.C. El Ingenio de Vélez Málaga where he demonstrates great capacity and professionalism.
These merits allow him to subsequently lead important projects, including large shopping centers such as Miramar in Fuengirola, La Verónica in Antequera or Portal de La Marina in Dénia.
In 2010, José opted for SiGLA as a platform from which he could continue developing projects, and it is here, after 15 years of uninterrupted relationship, that he carried out his last professional work.
Miramar Parque Shopping Center – Fuengirola 2004
The Miramar Shopping Center is one of the great projects under the responsibility of José Gómez.
Directing and coordinating the architecture teams of Arquintec, LKS engineering, Coordina ECOP and countless contracting and service companies, José manages to make a commercial project of 120,000m2 a reality with 73,000m2 of GLA for 159 stores and three parking lots with capacity for 3,565 vehicles.
DC Miramar is today one of the largest commercial areas on the Costa del Sol and a benchmark in terms of quality of execution and design.
Located in the town of Fuengirola, we inaugurated it in March 2004.
La Verónica Shopping Center – Antequera 2004
Antequera, also in the province of Málaga, is another of the great operations in which José demonstrated his dedication and professionalism.
The La Verónica Shopping Center was developed almost parallel to Miramar between 2001 and 2004.
In this case it was a design by architect José A. Rodrigo, which together with Lantec engineering and directed by José Gómez, was inaugurated in September of that year with great occupancy success.
La Verónica is a commercial facility with 22,000m2 GLA for 67 stores and a 10,000m2 hypermarket. It has 950 parking spaces and serves the entire Antequera region with more than 65,000 inhabitants.
Portal de la Marina Shopping Center – Ondara 2008
Also next to the Mediterranean, but this time in Ondara, an inland town near Dénia, José was responsible for the development of one of its most emblematic projects: the Portal de La Marina Shopping Center.
With 2,280 parking spaces and 48,000m2 of GLA for 146 stores, cinemas and a hypermarket, Portal de La Marina is a design by the North American studio Laguarda-Low, which was designed by Arquintec and executed by 10T-Díez Torrijos as project management.
Located next to the Mediterranean highway and inaugurated in early 2008, the Center is a commercial reference in the entire La Marina Alta region.
