Inauguration of Refrigerated Products Logistics Platform in Mercapalma

Although the new logistics platform was delivered to Eroski in January, it was not until last Saturday, April 26, when the facility was dressed up to receive the visit of authorities and managers in a formal opening ceremony.

The reason is none other than the completion and implementation of a robotic and fully automatic Europool pallet and box management system that achieves the traffic and Pick to light preparation of around 15,000 boxes a day. With this we managed to avoid the most tedious part of warehouse work for the human team made up of an average staff of 110 people.

This sophisticated equipment has been possible thanks to the collaboration of Europool System and Ulma.

The opening ceremony was led by Alfredo Herráez, director of Eroski in the Balearic Islands, who introduced Alberto Madariaga, Director of Operations of the Eroski Group and top representative of the Basque company at this event.

Both as hosts received the Minister of Economy of the Balearic Government Joaquín García, the Manager of Mercapalma Antonio Monjo and the Vice President of Mercapalma and Councilor for Health and Consumer Affairs of the Palma de Mallorca City Council Rosa LLobera.

In addition, representatives of associations linked to the fields of agri-food production and distribution and commerce in the Balearic Islands attended the event as guests.

On behalf of Si-GLA, as promoter and responsible for the development of this new platform, its CEO Alfonso Villacorta and the director of Projects and Investments Igor Martínez de Arenaza attended, as well as the Project Manager Antonio Perales Ybarra who we see in the photograph together with Chief Engineer Bernat Oliver.
